About McArthur Farm Supply
McArthur, CA

Store and Family History
In the late 1800's, John McArthur, the founding father of the town of McArthur, started our family-owned business as a dried goods business - the John McArthur Mercantile. That same building still standing today is now known as the Old Merc.
In 1963, John and Shirley McArthur, grandson of the original John McArthur, started the McArthur Farm Supply out of their barn and began serving the farm and ranching community.
Starting in 1991, the McArthur Farm Supply has been solely owned by Chris and George McArthur, son of John and Shirley. As of 2024, Jon Neugebauer became a partner in the McArthur Farm Supply business.
The McArthur family currently owns and maintains a cow calf operation as well as a yearling operation which are then are sent to Agri Beef in the Pacific Northwest. If they aren’t farming or ranching on one of their many ranches in the Northstate, they enjoy spending time with family and friends on the river or flying their airplane to visit many attractions.
George and Chris have two sons. John is a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a student Naval Aviator flying a helicopter. He, his wife Clair, and their daughter Merida reside in Yuma, Arizona. Scott graduated from George Fox University and obtained his PhD from UC Riverside in Chemistry. He, his wife Sarah, and their two daughters, Elena and Margo help run the family livestock business.
Jon Neugebauer is a local resident of the area of the last 24 years. Jon graduated from Chico State with a BS in Agribusiness and minors in General Ag studies, Crop Science, Fruit Science and Animal Science. He currently has his PCA license and helps the McArthur’s maintain their farming needs. Jon runs the day-to-day business at the store while the McArthur family is off ranching. He and his family run a show cattle and hog operation on the side in the valley.
